Quotes on my wall:
"Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew." -St. Francis De Sales
"You often overlook the choicest things in life because they are so easy to obtain - the sunrise and sunset, the starry host on a clear night, the taste of fresh clean air, the sight and smell of flowers and trees, and the fresh rain on your face." -Emmet Fox
I want to see some Animaniacs, due to lunchtime conversation.
I also want bright, shiny, colorful shirts!
How often should I defragment my sex drive? - idea played with on
ratatosk's journal. I'm amused. :)
I still like maps. [not political]
Munchkin icons, as mentioned by
woodwardiocom.
I would like to steal the summer away from the people who don't like it and keep it stored in small jars for my use in the wintertime. I would even be willing to give them some of my wintertime, if that were only possible.
I will be in SF for a week in less than a month, and
australian_joe will be here in less than two months!
I need to find a different support-type volunteer job, as the one I was initially investigating seems to not be a good fit. My current goal is to try to find a GLBT youth support group I can be a moderator (or something similar) for, preferably near me (so not Boston area, much as there are bunches of them there). Investigation progressing.
I say 'I' a lot. Except when I stop using most self-referential words.
Interesting article about assumptions, and I've forgotten where I first saw it.

Jul. 20th, 2004 01:25 pmSome quotes for the next few days before I pack my daily calendar at work away for our move.
"We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God, your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't be insecure around you." -Marianne Williamson
"We carry within us the wonders we seek without us." -Sir Thomas Browne
"We are the makers of our own lives. There is no such things as fate. Our lives are the result of our previous actions, our karma, and it naturally follows that, having been ourselves the makers of our karma, we must also be able to unmake it." -Vivekananda

Jun. 24th, 2004 11:02 amToday's calendar quote:
"Our primary relationship is really with ourselves... Our relationships with other people constantly reflect exactly where we are in the process." -Shakti Gawain
And, in a 'huh' kind of way, I was somewhat surprised to note that I have a fairly strong twinge at the word 'life-long'. And, in investigating my brain, that seems to apply to _everything_. I apparently don't expect anything to be life-long, ever. Me wonders if that has something to do with how much I expect to continue changing, based on past experience, and perhaps with a certain amount of distrust of other people sticking around.
Weird. And interesting. I shall have to keep a mental eye on that reaction, to see how/if it changes.
*simultaneously bouncy and tired today*

"[...] a restructuring of relationships and moving angles and tweaking perimeters, until a new and satisfactory polygon was formed. It's like an organic version of CAD, really, with less of a command-line interface." -

Jun. 17th, 2004 01:05 pmNeat quote, kidnapped from
echospiralheart:
"Expect everything to continue just as it is. Will that be okay with you in
six months? A year? Five years? It might seem like a contradiction to base a
current decision only on the present moment, when impermanence is one of the
basics of Buddhism. The point is this: To make a decision based on reality,
we have to accept that it will be this way forever because the present time
is the only truth we have. Otherwise, our decision is based on projections
and wishful thinking."
--Charlotte Kasl
Interesting thought, that. *contemplates*
