It's Tuesday. My wrists hurt. I'm doing a really crappy job of staying off the computer on weekends lately. I suspect it's partly about being _bored_ with things what are off the computer, plus the fact that my winter depression is happening, and everything I usually do to ignore it and the corresponding restlessness I largely can't do (play computer games, mostly, but also read lots).

I have a final exam and the rest of a research proposal to write this week.

And it's Tuesday, and my wrists hurt.

And next week is going to be crazy busy for work (at last it's after the exam and proposal are likely to be finished and turned in).

I can't wait until the enforced week off (Xmas to New Years), because I intend to stay offline even if it kills me. I'm also scared of the enforced week off, for the same reason. I am going to be bored silly, and it's _SO_ much harder to stay offline when I'm bored and restless. I need to find people to hang out with during that more than a week time.

I still don't know for sure about March and April.

I don't think I'm improving anymore, due to aforementioned difficulty with staying off the computer on weekends, and due to irritation/frustration with having to take constant breaks while on the computer. I think my wrists are getting worse again.

One of the things that has alleviated my tendonitis has been gentle weight lifting. I started out using a brace and lifting 3 lb weights. Even 1 lb cans would be fine too.

I've had tendonitis in my thumbs (2 years in braces in college and the threat of surgery over my head the entire time) and then the elbows in graduate school.

THe resting was good to get out of acute flare, but the weight training really healed me. I haven't been doing it for 2 months now, and my tendonitis is coming back.

The muscles begin to atrophy after awhile, which doesn't help.

Just another perspective, and not a perscription :)

I do intend to do gentle weight lifting, but first I have to get enough out of flare to not be causing myself additional damage. My wrist tendons are involved in holding things...

Doing minimal weights put me _back_ in flare the first time I was out for a significant period of time, so I need to be really careful.

I totally get that :( I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

Sometimes when my arms were just out of flare when I was first doing it, I'd dose up with ibuprophen just after and ice immediately.

Anyway, it's something to think about when you get *out* of flare. Or maybe swimming. The cold water is nice on the muscles that want to swell, and gives you a lot of lead time to actually *work them*, very gently, and with a lot of support.

Good luck :/

So can I pencil you in for doing non-typing stuff during the interholiday week? We're out of town at most one of those two weekends...

Yes! That'd be nifty.

Any concept of when?

8-(

You're out of Lyprinol though. When it gets there, resume the "starting" dose (2x2/day) for a couple of weeks.
