[tv, random]

So, I periodically note that I rarely watch TV without anyone else around, and have mostly watched series as a social activity.
This doesn't, however, necessarily mean that I would not miss certain series, even if I initially watched them as a social activity.
One such series which I had a heck of a time remembering the name of (eventually gave up and asked Google) was Sliders - which I actively miss, and want to see again. May have to track down the DVDs.
I missed Buffy when I stopped watching it (I'd watched it regularly with a couple of different people, so I have strange gaps in my viewing), although not enough to do anything about it. And not, I don't think, enough to purchase it. (Although I do want a copy of the musical, since it keeps getting in my head. I have the soundtrack already)
I actively tracked down Babylon 5, after hearing enough about it. Of course, at the time I was living on campus and was able to make use of the fact that I had cable and access to the Sci Fi channel. Also, I had a VCR to record it for later watching. But Babylon 5 is, IIRC, the reason I finally owned a TV and VCR.
I actively tracked down and purchased Firefly, after seeing a couple of episodes on a friend's DVD of the series.
So there _is_ TV that I enjoy enough to seek out. It's just rare.

Date: 2005-12-01 03:17 pm (UTC)I think I remember being less interested in it around then, but I don't recall why.

Date: 2005-12-01 06:27 pm (UTC)Good drama is, incidentally, rarely sufficient. I'm fairly sure that West Wing and The Sopranos, for example, would be things I would actively dislike.
