Landline not yet turned on at new place; on the phone with Verizon to determine why. Meh. Oh. Huh! Fun... there's something wrong with the phone line, and they're working on it. I might have a landline by the 30th, and DSL will be 5-6 days after that. *sigh*

It's _strange_ having no net access from home. But then, I've had net access at the places I've lived for... 8-ish years. If not more; I'm not sure if I had it from home my first few years in college.

It's really useful to remember to _shield_ my new place. Slept much better last night, once I realized why I was having so much trouble with getting to sleep. Also appear to have the interesting (and not altogether unexpected) ability to remotely remove a shield on a place with which I am sufficiently familiar, as I removed the shield on the Andover place from my bedroom in Woburn, and successfully transferred most of the energy and intent to the new place. Will have to reinforce the shields again, when I'm not half conscious, but it did help quite a lot.

So far, I'm liking the audio book thing, although it's a bit annoying to only have two books out at a time (considering that time includes time to get to me, back to them, and have another one sent to me). Probably not annoying enough, at least as of yet, for me to decide to upgrade to three out at a time, instead of two, since it costs more.

Construction on 495 is making it amazingly difficult to determine how long my commute would 'normally' be. It's been ~50 minutes lately, though. Hopefully it's more like 40 without the construction. Tomorrow morning, I think I attempt to avoid 495 entirely, using directions [livejournal.com profile] brynndragon constructed for me.

Andover apartment is nearly empty, which is good. Tonight, I think I empty the fridge and freezer, grabbing anything else that will fit into my car. Depending on when I arrive at Woburn, I may attempt to stop by Diesel, as I'm really missing people. Large group is better than nothing, at this point. Probably ~7:30-8, I suspect, if I make it at all. Are poly boston people even still there that late on Tuesdays? Not sure if I'll go or not, since Ash is seeming very people-deprived, himself, since I keep going to Andover to get stuff, after work, and doing a lot of unpacking when I'm home, and I have no roommate right now.

I am amused to note that my summaries of things tend to be really, really brief. Mostly because I'm terrible at listing things, and that _is_ a list.

However, when I read through other people's memories of things, I am frequently pleased and amused to be reminded of things that happened. So it's really nifty to have everyone else's summaries of things to read.

As a partial result of other people's summaries, I make note of things which pleased me about my few hours at [livejournal.com profile] sunspiral and [livejournal.com profile] roozle's party on Saturday:

-Seeing [livejournal.com profile] regyt two weekends in a row, and getting to see her be sweet with other people in both instances.
-Seeing and smooching [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha, and seeing her be all cute, sweet, and often smoochy with other people.
-Human hair, is, in fact, knittable.
-Apparently a vacuum cleaner can be exchanged for a [livejournal.com profile] ratatosk. Who knew?
-Brief interactions with [livejournal.com profile] pixie_ysral, involving french braiding of her hair.
-Brief smooches and hugs and hangings out with [livejournal.com profile] ayalanya.
-Playing with the same lovely, long hair which was used in the testing of the knittability of hair.
-Snuggling with various people, including [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha, [livejournal.com profile] regyt, [livejournal.com profile] ratatosk, and [livejournal.com profile] pixie_ysral. Others, too. But those were briefer interactions, and I'm getting name-lazy.
-Watching [livejournal.com profile] regyt playing with poi and other swirly colorful things whose name I do not know
-Meeting the niftiness that is [livejournal.com profile] minerva42, via her great amusement at the hair knitting, and because she had a camera.
-Food. Seriously. Not having had to feed myself while moving was _gooood_.
-I think it was less crowded than I'd expected, perhaps due to the weather, or the timing of my visit.

-Incidentally, [livejournal.com profile] regyt is this a +1, or a +4? (ie, is it per post, or per mention? ;)

Sadly, it was too cold and cloudy for pool use by me. And, I missed fire-spinny goodness, due to needing to continue moving stuff and to needing sleep.

Overall? Very glad I went. And yay for all you people reminding me of stuff, which reminds me of other stuff that happened! :)

Perhaps that should be 'link.funny.fucked up', but then, I suppose y'all already know my sense of humor is often fucked up. :)

Via [livejournal.com profile] volta, who suggested not watching if one values one's sanity (I obviously don't!):

"All Your Base" meets "Bohemian Rhapsody"

I'm _still_ amused. Uses flash. Entirely safe for work.

Via [livejournal.com profile] mactavish, [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha, and [livejournal.com profile] ratatosk, a post by [livejournal.com profile] vito_excalibur, "No, I did not bring enough vaginas for everybody."

This post also links to, among other things, It’s that whole “‘no’ means ‘no,’ but we’re not going to teach you what a ‘yes’ is for fear that you’ll actually have sex” issue.

[edit because I didn't mean to post this as early as I accidentally did]

Yeah. There's more bloody lines than just "will have PIV sex" or "won't have PIV sex"!

And, I note, I had lingering bits of this excessive black-and-whiteness in my head at least as recently as '02-'03. Probably still picking bits of this out of my psyche. I knew, intellectually, that it was wrong, that there was more granularity, that it was ok to just want to kiss or make out or whatever. But I didn't know/understand/comprehend/_feel_ where I wanted my boundaries to be, or where they should be, or where I needed them to be. That's part of what I was trying to figure out during my self-enforced period of singlehood from '02 to '03, you see. Still firming it up, mind, but that was a significant part of my intensly internally-focused exploration.

And it's interesting to note, at least in my experience, that it's an awful lot harder to be verbal about sex, safer sex, and where one wants to go, if one doesn't know where one's boundaries lie. Probably partly because it's harder to tell when one should speak up!

More links! (this time, [livejournal.com profile] regyt pointed them out)

I Am Not My Cock. And More Cock Fun

Incidentally, the mental pictures the first link title is giving me are highly amusing. And odd.

OK, upon multiple suggestions, invesigating queen-sized futons w/frames that are both couch and bed on craigslist. Worst case, I don't find anything. Best case, I find something that's in decent shape to replace the couch for very little or nothing at all.

Also going to keep an eye out for a bed for the guest room, because if it's cheap enough but still in good shape, why not? And, as someone pointed out, I can always sell things on craigslist, come time to wander the country!

[livejournal.com profile] bbbsg created a new community, called [livejournal.com profile] bostonbarter, and those of you interested in bartering for things should really go check it out. It's new, and the more people, the merrier!
