Got this via email yesterday [July 15th, 2004], and thought posting it here made sense.

---

A newspaper reporter is looking for couples who will or might lose their domestic partner benefits now that same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts. Some employers are planning or considering withdrawing health benefits for domestic partners.

This is a great opportunity for an article to educate the public (and employers) that health benefits are a matter of equal pay for equal work. It is not an appropriate role for an employer to force couples to get married or lose their health insurance.

If you fit the description, email me back with a brief description of your situation, and the best phone number to reach you (during the day, if possible). Also, feel free to forward this email to friends or lists where people might fit the description. Babson College and the city of Springfield, MA have both announced definite plans to end their DP benefits, if you know anyone who works for either of those.

*decides that it is completely impossible to eat a nectarine without juice going _everywhere_*

I must own this book. Eventually. Tasty book. Seen (for the second time; I don't remember where I first saw it) on [livejournal.com profile] bridgetester's journal.

*generally adores [livejournal.com profile] starandrea* And today's notice page shows what reminded me yet again of this fact. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] tacit has interesting thoughts on communication - none of which were particularly news to me. Oh, no, wait - I was surprised to note that my inability to remember word-for-word what was said to me five minutes ago isn't unusual. Of course, I take it to an extreme, in that I can't remember word-for-word what was said to me a minute ago, usually, and generally can't remember what _I_ say word-for-word, either.

Now, I go be lemming-ish. And then! And then... I post about my major dislike of transition states.

I'm not entirely sure I can do this for everyone on my friends list, but I shall do my best.

Seen in lots of journals, go to my userinfo page, and pick one person on my friends list you're curious about.
Then, comment with their username, and I'll do my best to tell you about them.

This ought to be interesting, since I'm not really sure how good I am at describing people!

So, I suppose it says something when, in searching my brain and other people's lists of songs (because I'm terrible at listing things) for love songs at the request of a friend, Billy Joel's "You May Be Right" sounded like it fit. ;) (I did not, however, suggest it. It doesn't quite fit the intended theme, amusing though it may be)

(what? I bet my entire friends list is crazy to some degree or another, this is hardly news! ;)

I apparently don't use the mood indicator _nearly_ often enough:

So, if anyone's wondering, the entertaining 'who are these people on my friends list' question thingy happened to cause me to notice (as I do every so often) who it is that I apparently read regularly and know nothing about, and then whose entries I tend to skim, at best.

The result of this is that I dropped a few people from my friends list. I figure that the fact that most of my posts are public should make this less irritating than it might otherwise be, and ought to help reduce my excessively large reading list. I may snip again later, because right now, the amount of time I would have to take in order to keep up on my friends list regularly (I don't necessarily bother to try) is simply insane. (Yes, I realize that there are filters for reading. I decided that, for the most part, I really don't like them. If I have people on my friends list, I want to be reading them, dammit! And if they are not in my default reading list, they get read just as little as anyone not on my friends list - infrequently, and when I happen to think of it)
