Cuddly people are good

Got to see and be at least a little cuddly with [livejournal.com profile] underwatercolor, [livejournal.com profile] weegoddess, [livejournal.com profile] minerva42, and a couple of people who have no lj that I am aware of.

And then, today, 4 hours of quiet chatting and some cuddling with [livejournal.com profile] weegoddess, who also got to chat with [livejournal.com profile] galaneia a fair bit. :)

And, [livejournal.com profile] metahacker was kind enough to help with my "I am so low on cuddle and now aware of it oh god I can't sleep" problems late last night. It's like opening a door and finding a Gaping Chasm Of Doom (or, in this case, painfully aching need for touch)! I definitely need more people to cuddle with regularly, though, as it can be a bit hard on him to only really have [livejournal.com profile] metahacker to get cuddles from. Like if he's overpeopled or it's too warm or whatever, you know?

Tomorrow, start volunteering at the lab I'm going to be helping with. Should be good, and it'll be nice to figure out a reasonable schedule (likely not full time, since that's not great for me when I am being paid, let alone when not,). Will also start trying to figure out where to apply to, no matter how much I do not want to apply agaaaaaain.

Did a bit of painting of the porch railing, with more to come. [livejournal.com profile] metahacker finished painting the trim in the back room, and adjusted the arrangement of the furniture in that room. It looks fabulous, I think.

grumble

Apparently I have no stamina. I can't tell if I'm sick, overwhelmed, or depressed.

Unfortunately, it's translating to wanting to do anything _but_ my thesis work, which needs to be at a final draft stage before mid-July when my adviser is gone for three weeks. And it's due as in needs to be done and approved by my adviser and second reader by early August. And I just Don't Want To.

Mostly, just tired. Don't really want to do much of anything, and spent last weekend mostly sleeping (which probably means I'm actually sick). I think I may also be sleeping for crap, which may be due to the fact that I have a time pressure that I'm aware of and I feel like I'm not really doing enough about.

Grumble.

Yes, I've done a little meditation, mostly while trying to fall asleep. Not sure if it's helping.

good stuff

-random conversations with a co-worker about interesting zoos in China with lots of tigers and pandas (made all the better by the sheer _glee_ involved in talking about it)
-People wanting to help me to do research, both just to help me out, and because they are themselves curious (even if some of them were unable due to requirements)
-Pretty music, from various sources, including suggestions by people I'm close to and things played by sweeties
-seeing people who are usually too far away, even if as is always true the visit is too brief.
-bursting out laughing multiple times during said visit
-local sweetie returned to the area
-thoroughly not-local sweetie to be here again in about a month
-hugs
-kisses
-best roommate in the world still is both the best and my roommate.
-funny/good/interesting conversations with all sorts of people
-kitty remembers that it's the time of year that I sit in front of the light for breakfast time, and comes running from wherever he is in the house when he hears the light click on
-I'm driving myself to work three days a week, taking a class, working full-time (which is being especially crazy right now). And my wrists _are still handling things_.
-is loved.
-loves.
-silly camera videos of dogs wrestling. One of which was partly under a sheet. Sheet puppy! Really, _really_ happy puppy tails!
-"hers [camera] is bigger than yours!"

Just happy.

And it's certainly not the weather! :) Even if the trees do remain pretty.

Ok, back to working again.

Yay! I think I have enough people (I definitely have enough, but I think I have actually contacted and expect to get surveys back from enough, so do not need to ask anyone else who has offered).

Thanks to you all!

In other news, I think I need to start using my light-based alarm in mornings again; getting up in the morning is proving difficult. Damn light levels...

OK, I'm mistaken, I need additional volunteers

I need 12, not 9. If anyone who did not volunteer in my poll about helping me do a study about jury decisions in courtrooms, who is over 18, and not a victim of a violent crime, and wants to help me out, that would be wonderful.

I _really_ don't want to re-use people who already helped in the first one, since I debriefed them, and this version is only slightly different.

I need 4 more; possibly 6 depending on how many people have replied to my ping about helping from my first poll. This time, I don't need to know about gender in this poll (but do in the actual survey).

Why does SPSS hate me?

This makes my homework difficult to do.

No really, there are _two_ variables (one dependent, one independent). I can see them! Stop pretending there's only one when I try to run your damn ANOVA thing.

(this after it deciding that one of my groups was multiple, last night)

Stupid thing.

(on the plus side, another set of volunteers needed, and I _may_ have enough from the extra people who volunteered last time and didn't get to take part in the last one)

psychology, education, research, data collection, volunteers

Hey, all!

This semester, my class is a research class, including data collection and such. As such, I need 8 volunteers for a brief survey relating to jury decisions in a courtroom. We need people over 18 (I don't think anyone reading me is not over 18), and people who have not been victims of violent crime. Additionally, we're trying for gender balance.

I may or may not (I cannot recall) need more volunteers later in the semester, so even if I don't pick you (since this is a convenience sample anyway, I'm going to pick the first 4 men and first 4 women to reply), I may still need your help later. (I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with anyone whose gender is neuter, FWIW)

I will be sending the actual survey through email, so please give a valid email address (I will check that you really did mean to volunteer, and that it works, before sending the survey).

[Poll #1267372]

Help me do my homework! ;) Hopefully I've not done a horrible job of forgetting important stuff, and have also managed to not give too much information thus invalidating my data.
