Aug. 22nd, 2008 04:10 pmCoherent, I am not today.
naamah_darling is more coherent, and says The Bush administration officially proposes conscience rule for doctors who don't want to do their fucking jobs, and "There are no provisions for assisting women who have been denied -- none. No statement that a doctor must help the woman find another doctor who will help her. No offers to help with transportation, should a woman need to go to a different city to get help. Nothing. We get nothing. We are their patients and we are not only being put behind our employees' consciences, we are being left with nothing as recourse" among other things.

Date: 2008-08-23 12:07 am (UTC)I lived in a small town years ago with only one gynecologist and she tried to refuse to treat me when I wanted to go on the Pill. I had to raise hell. I wonder how many other women in town just gave up. And the fact that it was ANOTHER WOMAN acting like this... Grrrr.

Date: 2008-08-26 03:15 pm (UTC)I did not run into this, but I'm entirely aware of how easily I could (another reason I pushed so hard for so long to get my tubes tied; partly that I really, truly do not want kids, and partly because that really reduces my chances of problems were I to run into stupid OB/GYNs).
