Meme from [livejournal.com profile] bbbsg and [livejournal.com profile] tafkar:

If you could have 10 knowledge modules installed in you right now, which would they be?

1) intuitive understanding of how the physical world works
2) common sense (instead of having to learn from repeated sometimes painful experience or other people's explanations)
3) how to move gracefully (more generally, how to be more in tune with and comfortable in my body)
4) spatial awareness
5) ability to effectively express the things inside my head
6) herbology (more generally, body/mind/spirit healing, including prevention of problems)
7) better/more accurate/less effortful reading of body language
8) cooking
9) sewing
10) wilderness survival

Wow. This was difficult! I had a bunch more than 10... And I sorta cheated, what with the 'more generally' statements.

5) ability to effectively express the things inside my head

i wanted this on my list, but i am so awful at it sometimes that i couldn't figure out the words for it.

*smiles* Indeed, I understand that! It's something I've needed to verbalize often enough lately that it has apparently decided to remain in the forefront of my brain.

I also appear to think that I am worse at this than perhaps I truly am. Not sure about that one, possibly because I am unlikely to ever think that I can effectively express through words things which are not inherently verbal. *shrug*

But I'm really good at throwing *lots* of words at a concept in order to try to get it across. ;)

*nod* i find that some of my friends are really good at knowing what i am trying to say, even if i feel like i am doing a horrible job of verbalizing.

Yes. Very much so.

Indeed, I begin to think that ability is part of what indicates that someone might be a candidate for close friendship for me. I don't think I intentionally select for that, but it would certainly make someone easier for me to be around, therefore making me gravitate toward them.

True. Some are not. But they tend to have been things on my 'want to learn' list long enough that I'm not convinced I'm going to have enough initiative to learn these oh so useful skills on my own. :)

initiative or time? energy? momentum! hmmm.

i'm sure you'll find some of them will occur at the right moment.

perhaps a few you shall have to pursue? with a vengeance. hunt down and take as your own.

certain kinds of dance, martial arts, and juggling might accomplish several on your list :> but the dance and juggling might be more casual and fun.

hmmmm.

i think a cat nap, and weaving homework is in order.

initiative or time? energy?

All of the above. There needs to be a combination of time, initiative (which generally goes along with energy), and having thought of it *all* at the same time. And, for longer term things, I need to get into enough of a habit that I won't skip things because I'm not up to them and then never get back to them.

I was doing Yoga for a bit there, and that was very much fun. I shall return to that I think, but not immediately.

Also have some interest in belly dance. But have not yet taken any classes. Ditto for swing dance.

I took some belly dance classes a few years ago. I had some fun, but I just don't have the coordination. I might have, say, the arms and the hips right, but the steps wrong, and then it would all unravel.

Wow, that's a good one. I'd have to think pretty hard about that. Maybe I'll try to keep it in the back of my mind throughout the rest of the day.
