I felt very strange reading the latter piece, as I am very much of Semitic descent but don't in the least subscribe to doctrines of Original Sin or "obsessive body modesty". I guess that makes me the Other, Other People.

*shrug* I suspect it's just yet another attempt to say 'leave us alone, you people are crazy', and doesn't intend to imply that one who _is_ of Semitic descent cannot be in the 'Other People' category.

Besides, I suspect that it's very likely that the Witnesses who were visiting were _not_ of Semitic descent.

My mom has said for as long as I can remember that the higher rates are almost certainly because people who are on the spectrum get along better with and are more likely to have children with other people on the spectrum. I suspect that the 'working together' thing is only one of the many factors, since people can meet through _lots_ of different avenues at this point, working together being only one of them.

Shared interests are certainly one of the best ways to meet people that one likes, and is probably pretty likely to have the same effect. So is meeting people through online social groups, I think.

I am decended from both Yahweh's people and the Other people. My father is Jewish (and I know he's actually decended from Abraham et. al., because he was Cohen before he married my mother, meaning an unbroken line from the high priests of the days when we gave burnt offerings in the temple in Jerusalem). My mother is British-Isles-mix (except no Scots for some reason, but they're just Irish anyway - or is it the other way around?). Does Original Sin apply to me or not, within the context of the arguement put forth in that article?

Also, what about Noah's family? They were the only humans left after the flood incident, according to the bible - were they Yahwehians or Others? Or a mix?

But, then, wouldn't the bible only tell us about the Yahweh's people aspect, and not about who the other gods decided to save? If it was worldwide, I imagine other gods would have had to save some of their own people. Or, perhaps, it was only in areas in which Yahweh had control? Unless the other gods cooperated...

Actually, that's another question I meant to include that I did not include, which is what did the other gods have to say about the whole killing off their creations thing. The reason I didn't include it is I'm not sure *who* the ending plural in Elohim refers to - just like Adonai means "our (plural) lord (singluar)", Elohim might be "Our/Their (plural) God (singular)". My first impression, given my (limited) knowledge of modern hebrew, is that it is indeed refering to multiple beings rather than a single being possessed by multiple people, but I didn't want to go on when there was the alternative possibility.

I suspect a large part of the reason this is confusing to us is back in the day it was just understood that, regardless of whether you personally worshiped a pantheon or a single family/tribal/city-based diety, everyone worshiped their own set. The idea that there is literally a single diety is relatively modern. Prosiletyzing, well as the concept of "finding" a diety, are also relatively modern.
