A quote I have always loved from Mercedes Lackey's Tayledras (part of her Valdemar books) is "Zhai'helleva, ashke" - or, "Wind to thy wings, beloved". Never before have I known anyone it felt right to say it to. Even if I did feel compelled to modify it a little.

A random thing I noticed a bit ago (last Sunday, I believe), and was reminded of tonight. Of all the five physical senses, taste is the only one from which I have never had an overwhelmingly pleasant experience. I like some foods, yes, but I generally eat to not be hungry. This confuses people.

OK, I'm seriously babbling and tired, and need to get up to go to Rhode Island tomorrow to visit family members. So, I sleep.

And I have hope.

I have no clue why, but I was awake - wide awake - at 5am. Since I didn't go to bed until 1am, this was bad. Had to close the shades on my window to even approximate getting back to sleep. This should make for an interesting drive to RI and back!

Wish I knew why my sleep schedule has been so fucked up lately!

Gah!

No _like_ having a sense of change, but it not being sufficient amounts of change for me to know what's going on.

*vibrates with impatience and exhaustion*

'k. To RI in 10 minutes. Probably fairly briefly, since my child tolerance is lower due to lack of sleep.

And tomorrow - no plans! None! *pleased*

It's simultaneously really neat and really strange that Dalia, my oldest sister's daughter, never fails to know who I am and indicate a desire for me to hold her. And when I first met her, a little over a month after her birth, she fell asleep on me. (note: My older brother's children have never had such a strong attachment/interest in me, so it's not just that we're related)

Babies don't usually like me, so having one _fall asleep on me_ last year was more than a little unexpected. And having her remember who I am even more so. I don't see her more often than 5 hours at a time, with at least two months between the visits, so such awareness of who I am confuses me.

Little over a year old now, and she spent an awful lot of time having me hold her today (well, when she wasn't napping). Was strange. Neat, but strange. My family does certainly have possibility for really nifty children!

And good lord, she has a gigantic smile. (which I was amused to be told reminded my youngest sister of me)

Yeah. Children. Fascinating, and scary. And I can_not_ imagine wanting them, even if one _doesn't_ have reason to believe (as I do) that having some my own to take care of would be a really bad idea. *shakes head*
