Still too energetic for sleep.

Books! Seriously, my brain is now stuck on books, from reading LJ comment replies.

I have no idea if I can manage to suggest them without getting all lost in my head, but I shall try!

- Mercedes Lackey, Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise, Magic's Price. Was intro'd to these in high school; first books I ever read where the main character is gay. I _still_ love them. Mercedes Lackey is what I read when my brain wants a break, and wants sweetness/beauty as well as reminders of things I tend to forget.
- Richard Bach, Illusions: Adventures of the Reluctant Messiah. Don't remember when I got intro'd to him, but I adore his writing. It speaks to my spirit. I also recommend Bridge Across Forever
- Zenna Henderson's stories about The People. Recently introduced to this, but it resonnates very, very well. Beauty, hope, joy, pain.
- Daniel Keyes, Flowers for Algernon. I've only read the short story, and _recently_, but... powerful story. Speaks to the part of me that fears losing my intelligence while able to realize that it's happening
- Arthur C. Clarke, Childhood's End. I don't really know _why_ I like this book. I only know that I do, and it periodically haunts my brain until I re-read it. I read it very young, I remember that much. It reminds me of another story I like, which I can't remember, where the children find toys (teaching toys) which teach them how to go... elsewhere. I remember wishing I could find toys like that...
- Roger Zelazny, Amber series. Always fascinated me, even though when I first tried reading it as a kid, I kept getting lost. Probably because there were too many names.
- Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet. I first heard of it because I saw the part on Marriage somewhere online.
- Charlotte Kasl, If the Buddha Dated. Have not yet finished this book, because it keeps making me think. _Not_ something I can read quickly, but it's been fascinating so far.

Probably lots more, but sleep calls. And I don't feel like getting up to look at my bookshelves.
