Online for a bit! Still in Florida, but have some time during which I'm not busy because I'm not going to [livejournal.com profile] sunyata__'s place until around 6pm tonight. My parents, grandfather, and one of my aunts have gone off to Epcot.

So far, I've not done a very good job of catching up on sleep, but at least I've managed to recover from complete lack of sleep the first few evenings down here (something about changing my sleeping locations 3 times in 4 days).

Have visited Epcot, mainly because we did a nifty behind-the-scenes tour, Sea World because I'd not gone in a very very long time (and we did a animal rescue tour there), and the Animal Kingdom because it's fun.

Remembered yet again that I would like to try to get a job working with animals one of these days, preferably animal rescue. Maybe I'll work at Disney or Sea World one of these days - if nothing else, the weather is nicer. But I suspect I'll have significantly more trouble finding a social life I like as much as Boston. No rush, though - I want to try to pay off school loans at my current, fairly high paying job before working somewhere that will almost certainly pay me less.

Haven't done much swimming - it's cold enough that I haven't wanted to, although I'm sure the water is much warmer than the air - strange as it may seem, Florida pools tend to be heated, even though New England, where the wated *should* be heated, is not. Probably because it'd be too expensive.

Haven't been down here since New Years 1999-2000. Having my own transportation is good, although I only used it to get here from the airport, and to go to Animal Kingdom lodge early one of the days, because I was bored and antsy. Also going to be using it to get to [livejournal.com profile] sunyata__'s place. Which is probably really the only reason having the retal is worth it - it's *not* cheap.

I am still questioning if it was a good idea for me to have gotten it, and the fact that I was tired when I got to the rental place didn't help. Too easily convinced to get stuff I don't need. Like an upgrade from their cheapest car, and paying for a full tank of gas. Neither was needed - the first happened because they convinced me that the cheapest car wouldn't have power stearing or brakes; the second because the nearest gas station was more than what they were charging. Of course, at least according to my parents, the first was simply not true. And the gas gague has not moved at all, since I drive it so rarely - so I'm paying for *way* more gas than I'm going to be using.

Ah well - first time renting a car, I really ought to have expected to be learning stuff. Just... expensively! Blah. On the plus side, traveling alone and not for work, although weird in multiple ways, wasn't too bad. A bit lonely, though. Overwhelming, but that was expected, and tolerable.

Next time I'm in the area, and have a bit of money to spend, I want to do Sea World's full day Marine Mammal Keeper Experience - sounds like one gets to shadow an animal rescue person. Sounds like fun!

Also - I got to meet a whole bunch of LJ-ers, the only one of which who is actually on my friends list being [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, and I don't remember anyone else's names. That was very cool, although a bit overwhelming, since I didn't know *anyone*, and there were about 16 people there. Must find time to visit [livejournal.com profile] shadesong in Atlanta at some point - the visiting time was *not* enough, and she's very cool. And apparently about as much of a touchy cuddly person as I am! Very impressive, that.

And, as seen on [livejournal.com profile] thoughtblogger's journal while trying to catch up on LJ (easier to do when people are on vacation, apparently), there are people trying to break the US government's monopoly on space.

OK, back to catching up on hundreds of posts by all you delightful people!

I posted about it in my journal. ;)
