I am really not a fan of getting cramps when I _don't bleed_. I mean, the not bleeding part is good (yay, mirena!). And, ok, I don't get them nearly as often as when I bled monthly. But I also get no real warning that this is what they _are_, either.

But the cramps? The ones that got me on birth control oh lo those many years ago? Not a fan. Especially not when they make me nauseated from the pain.

Why do I not carry aleve with me? Why?

Ow. I think I'm done working for the day, because I fail to be able to ignore this anymore. Also because hardware is pissing me off.

Oh man, I carry Aleve with me every day of my life. I wish I could just reach through the screen and hand you some. Cramps suck.

Well, stopping trying to work (and thus pay attention) meant that I could concentrate on relaxing, instead, which helped.

So did getting home and taking Aleve, mind. ;)

Ow. :(

This concerned be a bit, as I've gotten minor cramps only for the past few years, and am getting Mirena next week. I'm looking forward to little to no bleeding, but if I start getting cramps again, I'll be sad!

I did, indeed, have cramps & bleeding again for the first 6 months to a year. Then the bleeding stopped, and the cramps mostly did (they ever happen, but not often).

I have had it for 3 years now, and the cramps have been slightly more frequent and insistent. However, I am nearly constantly on anti-inflams, although not necessarily aleve, so I may not always _know_ when I get them (Aleve pretty much kills my cramp pain).

Mirena gave me pretty much constant cramping (and by this I don't mean I had days off) for a handful of months, maybe five to six. I had never had cramps before. (The Mirena cramps were what taught me that the massive pain I'd had for my first twenty years wasn't "cramps" at all.) On the other hand, I'm retroverted and tiny, to the point where one of my gynecologists said he would never have attempted Mirena for me. Most women will do far better with it.

Eek!

I'm retroverted, but I don't think I'm tiny, and uterine pain hasn't been an issue for me. I will certainly talk to my doctor about what to expect, especially as far as "how do I know if it's not right for me after?"

would it help to get you a pill container like [livejournal.com profile] galaneia has? for various things?

Yeah, I carry a little tin with a few doses of most things I regularly take and it's handy. There are cool ones that go on your key ring, even!

I'll totally fire cramps: then I wouldn't have any either!

I don't think so; I don't carry anything but what's in my pockets regularly, and I wouldn't want that in my pockets. Else I'd have one already. :)
