[family, poly, funny]
Oct. 10th, 2006 02:07 pmSo, my sister, brother-in-law, and niece were visiting for lunch last Saturday, which was nice (it'd been a while, since I can't drive very far right now, and this is the child who has loved me (possibly better as 'adored/gravitated toward') from _VERY_ young, much to my continued bafflement).
Amusingly, though, at some point during the visit, my niece asked me if I had a girlfriend. (I said 'Yes! More than one!', to which she replied "Two?", and I indicated that this was correct) That was, in itself, a bit startling (she's 3), but was more entertaining when combined with the fact that I was sitting immediately next to
australian_joe and had been - as far as I'm aware - as randomly affectionate with him as usual. (unfortunately,
australian_joe was not aware that anyone whose company I actively seek out - family or not - will know that I'm poly, so did not get to have a visible and amusing reaction to that conversation)
I guess I can be certain that my oddities are not being hidden from that child! Well, assuming that what she meant by the question is what I interpreted it as, which was unclear. (I half wonder if my niece picked up on whatever it is that
jasra and I do that makes everyone ask us if we're together)
Of course, my sister also mentioned that apparently this child thinks that I will have a little girl at some point. My suspicion is it's because _she_'s a little girl, and thinks everyone should have one. ;) Because, well, me? No kids.
Still entertained by that particular conversation, me!
