I had an epiphany when running an Amber RPG. One night, when 2/4ths of the gamers were female, we spent an entire gaming session discussing exactly what dresses and hair styles all the people at the grand ball were wearing. And I realized that (a) my players were having fun and (b) I was okay with that. After that we strove for more balance between grinding and playing dress-up! :)
I rarely have interest in playing dress-up for table-top games (or, for that matter, on WoW), since I have nearly no visual memory or visualization abilities. (and my ability to determine what looks good on anyone, including myself, only started existing in the past ~5 years) But yes! I tend to strongly prefer a balance between fighting and social-type stuff. Strongly. :)
