I am strangely charmed by using my treo to get online (including ssh! Yay pssh!), even if the fact that both my net and landline being down is immensely annoying (hopefully will be fixed tomorrow).

Also. Not wanting to leave Australia is not the same as not wanting to be here. I loved it there, but I don't dislike it here, and my life, at least in the near term, is in Boston.

Hint: you can put the Treo into "Tethered mode", which turns it into a cellular modem through which one can connect a computer to the internet via PPP.

I've done this with my laptop a couple of times. The latency is pretty high but it all just works.
