"collected information on people, not things." A-yup. My fascination, once I was in school and saw the need, was with people, and social interaction and trying to understand why the hell people did the things often very strange things they did. My fascination is with minds and social interaction and such, not machines.

I'm an awful lot less likely to be watching from the outside now, although sometimes I still do. Almost certainly due to the large number of people I know now whose behavior makes more sense to me, so is less likely to cause me to be distant while trying to figure things out. Instead, my investigations into friends' minds are part of my interaction with them.

Heh! Yeah. Actually, I didn't do this kind of information, as my brain has never cared about or easily collected trivia (which, in my head, refers to things which don't easily associate from other things, like phone numbers, addresses, schedules, and such). Which, I note, is what they noted in the article as what tended to be collected.

I tended far more strongly toward collecting information on how people acted, interacted, and such. Interpersonal interaction.

This is almost certainly because I _knew_ there was (non-verbal communication, although I didn't know that then) data I was missing or mostly missing, and I _desperately_ wanted to understand it. I also knew that there were bits that I _could_ catch, so it wasn't a completely hopeless goal.

I also tend to enjoy people watching.
