[livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha and I have _VERY STRANGE CONVERSATIONS_.

ladytabitha: Anyhoo, ayuh. Thanks for the pokings. :)
wispfox: Welcome. :)
ladytabitha: I should bake you a cake!
wispfox: Eh?
ladytabitha: In the shape of an extended index finger!
ladytabitha: *poke poke poke!*
wispfox: Aaaaah!
ladytabitha: :D
wispfox: Hee. :)
wispfox: No! You should knit one!
wispfox: ;)
ladytabitha: Bwa!
ladytabitha: ...knit you a cake?
wispfox: Perhaps! But I meant the index finger. ;)
ladytabitha: You know, if you need fiber, you could eat Wheaties.
wispfox: *grins*
wispfox: I would not _eat_ it!
ladytabitha: Maybe a cake slipcover?
wispfox: Eating knitting is silly. Unless it really _is_ made out of cotton candy!
wispfox: Oooh. I wonder if that's possible!
wispfox: Probably not. It'd melt from body heat. Sad...
ladytabitha: Not if I made it of cotton candy...
ladytabitha: And if I did that in the cold...
ladytabitha: *contemplates*
ladytabitha: *slaps own hand repeatedly*
wispfox: But it'd need to be _really_ cold, because your hands would be warm...
wispfox: And really cold makes it hard to be dexterous. :)
ladytabitha: Maybe gloves?...
ladytabitha: *think think think*
wispfox: Are there gloves which don't cut down much on dexterity?
ladytabitha: GAH XTINA KNOCKITOFF
wispfox: *laugh* Sorry. :)
ladytabitha: No no, it's me!
wispfox: But I'm not helping. :)
ladytabitha: I'm thinking, "Huge needles, spun cotton candy, freeze the needles first, wear non-powdered rubber gloves (or powdered in powdered sugar, for fun)..."
wispfox: *laugh* Powdered sugar gloves!
wispfox: I have the odd desire to post this conversation. :)
ladytabitha: Go to!
ladytabitha: And then a lot of hooks!
wispfox: hooks?
ladytabitha: To hold the strands of cotton candy, so they don't melt together.
wispfox: Aaaah. :)
ladytabitha: Maybe a walk-in freezer, or A/C-ified room...
wispfox: But then you'd be wearing bulky clothing, which would also decrease dexterity!
ladytabitha: Hence the large needles, which'd help a bit. Plus, I wouldn't be doing it for too long each time anyways.
wispfox: Ah, true!
wispfox: It's... like... cooking _and_ knitting!
wispfox: How... oddly geekily domestic of you! ;)
ladytabitha: Yeah... Trinity Stewart. :)
ladytabitha: *blink*
ladytabitha: BWAHAHA
wispfox: *cough* *dies*
ladytabitha: Now it's DEFINITELY post-worthy!
wispfox: Yes. :)

But But But...

Heat doesn't melt cotton candy. Moisture does. And before you can knit the cotton candy, you'll have to spin it into yarn first. Your best bet would probably be to move to some deserty state (Nevada, Arazona?) and try the experiment there.
I'll tell you what, if I ever inherit my uncle's commercial floss machines, etc, and if you can come up with a spinning wheel, we can try it. The only *real* problme I can see with the project is that the floss comes out of the machine in big loops.
