I'll testify to that. A sudden sharp pain was my first indication of a kidney stone. I believe it is due to the build up of hydrostatic pressure in the kidney due to the blockage, yes? It certainly felt like my kidney was going to pop like a balloon. After the initial sharp pain there was a long drawn out episode of pain interspersed with a few more sharp pain peaks.
