my results were fairly close to what I always figured would be best for me: (IOW, lots of emphasis on New Mexico, which I love, and lots of emphasis on Louisiana, which is in my blood)

Truth or Consequences, New Mexico City of the Sun
This New Mexico town was known for its curative hot springs long before it was known for its game show connection…

(actually, i've been there. they have nudist hot springs areas, too.)

Natchitoches, Louisiana A Model for the South
Las Vegas, Nevada
Alexandria, Louisiana
Hot Springs-Hot Springs Village, Arkansas America’s Natural Spa
The world's largest documentary film festival is held in this Arkansas vacation spot each October… (been here, too - a great anniversary/honeymoon/get laid a LOT spot)
Little Rock, Arkansas
Leesville, Louisiana
Cherokee Village, Arkansas
Silver City, New Mexico
Mountain Home/Bull Shoals, Arkansas
Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana
Carlsbad, New Mexico A True Desert Oasis
This town's Pecos River Flume is an aqueduct that was the largest concrete structure in the world when it was built in 1902…(lived here when I was a baby...love it)
Heber Springs-Greers Ferry Lake, Arkansas
Eureka Springs, Arkansas
New Orleans, Louisiana The Crescent City
This Creole city hosts a Jambalaya Festival and a Shrimp Festival each year…(spent a large portion of my childhood here)
Baton Rouge, Louisiana The Cajun Capital
This town was named after the red stick its founder saw on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River… (I was born here)
Las Cruces, New Mexico City of the Sun
Don Juan de Oñate explored this sunny spot in 1598 while searching for the mythical Seven Cities of Gold…(been there, LOVED IT)
Las Vegas, New Mexico
Holiday Island, Arkansas
Houma, Louisiana
Fayetteville, Arkansas
St. Helens, Oregon
Portland, Oregon
Covington, Louisiana

Molten Lava as a natural feature sounds kind've cool...

But it recommends DC as the 8th preference. This automatically makes it invalid.

Molten lava! Wait. But would you want to live near it?

Well, it's no more hazardous than some other natural conditions and for a while there, Portland qualified as such.

*chuckle* Yeah, most of the places I would like to be will be expensive, as well. Sadly. :)

1. I do not expect to have a fantastically high salary.
2. I do not wish to pay rent for the rest of my life.
3. I do not wish to have to rely on another person's salary to cover house payments.
4. I'm honestly not interested in having a giant house. Small house attached to a giant library maybe, but not a giant house. And if I'm paying a giant price for a small house, that's even worse.
