Due to impulsiveness, my hair is now somewhat reddish. Thankfully, however, it is _not_ the slightly pink that it appeared last night!

Also, sleepy due to difficulty falling asleep and to being awake at 6am this morning.

I also hate my sinuses. Mostly because, even though I fairly recently did the whole antibiotic thing (within the past 6 months?), I still tend to have a startling number of apparent sinus headaches. And the dizziness for no apparent reason at the same time as sinuses misbehaving is back, although not as bad or often as when it first started (that being what finally got me to pester my doctor for antibiotics). Stupid sinuses. They didn't used to do this to me. Past few years, at most. Perhaps I should pester my doc again. I am _so_ tired of doctors, of late. Much as everything is minor stuff, I've seen an awful lot of them lately!

It's not amazingly different, but I believe it's semi-permanent, so ought to still be there the next time I see you. :)

heath: eh. Mostly just lots of annoying things that I'm finally getting around to trying to do something about (like sleep difficulties, sinuses, and being immensely tired of birth control pills and wanting something else). But thanks!

This happened to me, too -- having never had them before, I suddenly randomly started having sinus headaches. My doctor said this is one of those things that happens to people. Which, while not exactly encouraging, I found at least reassuring!

*whine* But I want to know how to make it _stop_ happening, not be told that it sometimes happens that way! (however, yes - I did know that happens)

(yes, antibiotics help, but they don't appear to have managed to make it stop happening. Sadly. May have been insufficiently long last time, though, as she gave me a fairly brief set last time, and it was hard to tell if it helped because I then proceeded to get a cold at the tail end of the antibiotics. *sigh*)

My bedroom humidifier is my best friend! Decongestants and/or antihistimines sometimes also help. Or you could try a neti pot if you're braver than I am :)

Huh. You mean I might have stopped the humidifier a bit early? I was only intending to use it in winter, but...

what _is_ a neti pot?

I use my humidifier if I'm congested in spring or fall, plus all the time in the winter.

A neti pot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neti_pot) is a thing you use to, basically, wash out your sinuses with warm water. It sounds scary to me, but I know people who swear by them!

(I'm amused to note that when I'm writing html, I want to change whether I use "a" or "an" based on the code -- as in "an [a href=...]." Verbal much? :->)

Humidifier: noted. Currently trying to see if saline nasal sprays do the trick (they do seem to have killed the sinus headache, but the dizzy isn't gone yet).

neti pot: ok, that's scary looking.

html: yeah, I think I do the same thing. :)

After a sinus infection, try to figure out how your ears are doing. Your ears are part of the drainage system, and can get clogged up as a result of this. Some ear wax cleaning solution will sometimes unclog them, and you'll be amazed at how much better you feel.

(In a pinch, a doctor (well, nurse, or whomever does these things at the doctor's office) will flush your ears out with water, but it can be uncomfortable. If the earwax solution is do-able, it might be easier.)

Keep in mind, of course, that I'm not a doctor nor any member of the medical profession, and all other caveats as appropriate. But, if your ears already feel a little funny/clogged, it's a good idea to think about this.

My ears don't tend to feel clogged, but considering that I get balance-related problems (dizziness), it's nearly certain that I just can't tell. But then, it may be that the dizziness is just too deep in for an ear wax thing to help; I've no idea how those work.

Wanna see. ^^ (Also vaguely want to braid your hair and my hair and [livejournal.com profile] ayalanya's hair together, now that we're all dyed various sorts of reddish. Though, mine would make the braid all bumpy and messy.)

*laugh* That would be amusing, although I suspect we'd need a fourth person to _do_ the braiding. ;)

I also suspect that my hair would make it difficult for the braid to stay together, being so thin and wispy.

Hee! We would have nice variation in hair types, though!

Have you tried using a neti pot? It won't get rid of the headaches permanently, but it may give you temporary relief. Also, pressure point massage can be useful. If you don't know the points, I'll show them to you when you're in NYC. Some of my friends swear by acupuncture for sinus problems; I've only tried it once, when things were so bad that I was willing to have someone stick needles in me. It worked for me that time.

A what pot?

Pressure point massage, I may or may not know. I appear to be oddly good at knowing the right points for massage. However, by no means do I think it'd hurt to have you show me the ones you know, as most of what I do is self-taught.

Acupuncture: does it make it go away, or just more temporary relief?

Have you tried any allergy medicines for the sinus headache? It could be a reaction to pollen levels. Even if you do not have hay fever your reactions can change, year to year. I find a bit of pseudoephedrine, sometimes aided by caffeine, will generally chase off a sinus headache. Though I try not to over use medication, sometimes I just need to be able to work and it will give me enough relief to allow me to.

I'm curious to see you in red hair. I suspect you'd look pretty cute in pink too ;P

I doubt it's pollen. I've had more or less this kind of random-seeming behavior as far as my sinuses for a few years now, although it appears to be getting gradually worse (or perhaps more frequent).

Mostly, I just want it to _stop_. I get headaches often enough that unless it's a really bad one, I can work (although perhaps not sleep) through it.

pink: Perhaps, but I _hate_ pink. :)

I have two thoughts.

One, I have a friend who was diagnosed with basically a sinus infection that was not completely curable with a standard treatment of antibiotics. There a places in the sinus cavities that do not have good circulation that the antibiotics can't get to and the infection stick around in those places and keeps coming back.

Two, Have you been tested for allergies? You may be reacting to some other allergen. Possibly food born, though sinuses are not the usual way that manifests.

Don't like pink? Fair enough. You're cute either way. :)

*nod* Which is why I'm contemplating pestering my doc again.

allergies: no, although I've never tended to have them.

Allergies = *so* random. They come and go for no apparent reason, sometimes. So never having had them in the past is, sadly, no indicator that you won't get them in the future! Sad, that.
