Fascinating Aspie article. I'm not one, but I'm far enough on the introversion scale to understand them better than neurotypicals usually do. Interesting idea that conservative definition of rules is easier on Aspies than liberal "just be nice."

It's not, BTW, an idea that I agree with. I tend to find it _much_ easier to be myself around liberal types than conservative ones. And I am somewhere on the autism spectrum.

Thanx for the datapoint. Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] bridgetester is unaware of unspoken aspects of conservatism he has internalized. It certainly seems possible to find out liberal rules than he thinks.

Your comment confuses me.

Sorry, let me try again. I am not sure either conservatism or liberalism has a clear balance towards either specific rules or obedience to what one is supposed to know automatically because everyone knows it. I think either can be seen that way, depending on the individual's experiences. I grew up thinking of conservatism as an attitude one was supposed to abosrb naturally while liberalism was a matter of following rules. Now I can see opposite aspects of both.

Actually, I think [livejournal.com profile] bridgetester specfically says that she _doesn't_ agree with that idea, in her first point made before the article title. :)

The article's author is the one who thinks that conservatism would be easier to handle, not [livejournal.com profile] bridgetester, who simply posted the article.

Sorry about that. I neglected to look back when I made the comment. I should have said "the article's author."

Yeah, that was definitely part of my confusion. :)

I wonder how much the article's author was confusing conservatism with cultural homogeneity. All etiquette is anywhere is actions taken to make people feel comfortable -- this gets harder the more people vary.

Very interesting point, that. Now I wonder the same thing. Huh!
