Yep. Very much so.
Combine with this the fact that I've got face blindness to at least some extent, tend to not remember names (easier if written, though), and the fact that I tend to be unable to remember anything about people if there is nowhere in my brain to put memories about them (means I rarely rememeber first meetings, unless I knew of a person already and someone makes the connection for me. This doesn't always help, but it's better than nothing), and large group things can be... rather useless.
