Actually, piezoelectrics make that feasible on smaller scales.
There are plans afoot for clothes that power personal devices through electricity generated by moving them. The same fabric could be used for tents to power lights and a stove or heater.
And there's been a watch available for a while powered by the movements it goes through by being worn on a wrist.
