[snow.shoveling] Grrrrrr...

I understand that the snow's been melting away so far this year. I get that.
But if it melts partly, someone walks on it, and it then freezes, it's intensely difficult to get the resulting ice off the ground.
And no one else who lives in this complex, which shares the back porch aka fire escape, appears to shovel. Ever. Even when the last snow _didn't_ all melt away, and this storm happened with only a day between the two storms. And I was in too damn much pain to shovel it myself (or even think to suggest that it needed to be done).
I need an ice pick.
On the plus side, some random stranger was kind enough to give me a bit of aid in removing the piles of snow off the steps so I can get _at_ the ice. If I had an ice pick.
*sigh* Hey, at least the fire escape/back steps are vaguely useful now (even though I'm likely to have to go shovel again in a couple hours). And I got rid of some of the restless energy that not built up from not being able to _do_ anything most of this past week. Perhaps next I'll get around to sewing some buttons back onto the coat they fell off.
(incidentally, I'm not entirely sure that the place I park has a snow plow this year, as the parking lot changed hands, and I've not seen one there yet. Ought to make getting _out_ of it interesting... I don't have any way to contact the current owner of the lot, and parking on the street in this town overnight _will_ get you towed, especially if it's snowing. I wonder how much getting someone to plow would cost...)
