I'm proof that it doesn't always happen that way...

P.S. The icon is me being ironic.

You and me both. :)

P.S. The icon is me being thoughtful. (Frylock is the only one with a brain on that show... :) )

That makes me so sad. It makes me realize how much I enjoyed the offworld parts of my weird childhood.

'offworld parts' keeps making me think you lived on the moon or something. And I can't, for the life of me, get beyond that interpretation.

What do you actually mean? :) (and if you _do_ mean that, I'm so impressed!)

No, my physical self was always located here on the planet. The "problem" was that I was an extremely distractable kid with a very active imagination. When my mind started to wander, effectively my real-world sight and sound would shut off, and I'd be seeing and hearing somewhere else, wherever my imagination had taken me. This played hell with my attention in school, where whole blocks of classroom time would be completely lost to me. It wasn't physical hyperactivity; sitting still wasn't a problem. And it wasn't a deficit of attention, just an extremely different focus of it. I hated school, and always wanted to be doing my stuff instead of theirs. I had a lot of social interaction issues too, what I've been told is classic INTJ behavior.

Huh! Neat. I think I did that kind of thing, myself, although not to that degree. :)
