A conversation went from my hatred of diamond ads to gags (something about a diamond ad saying "Diamonds - Render Her Speechless"), and then I was no longer able to keep my thoughts work-safe.

I'm highly amused by this fact, really.

Diamonds are a Man's best Gimmick

If you ever have watched "The Family Guy" there is a fantastic
innuendo parody of a diamond ad. I will have to dig up WHICH
episode it is attached to ..

It looks like the episode was "Peter, Peter, Caviar Eater"
From this (http://www.familyguyfiles.com/episodes/viewref.php?searchterm=De%20Beers&title=Peter,%20Peter,%20Caviar%20Eater&id=8&op=and) epsiode guide:
"Probably one of the best gags on the show is a spoof of the De Beers Diamond Company commercials which feature people giving each other jewelery - but behind a curtain so you only see the shadows of people, but the ring is always visible. In the gag, we see a man and woman kissing (apparently she just got a ring), then she begins to go down on him (apparently to perform oral sex). The screen then shows - DIAMONDS SHE'LL PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO. Of special note; Seth and the censors actually went frame by frame trimming to get this gag on the air - apparently there is "too far down" for Network TV. In the end, it still worked."

gag me with a diamond?

like, fer sure.

(my favorite is still the "ringwraiths in love" ad; even though as far as i can tell diamonds are basically a scam...)

Diamonds are _totally_ a scam, yes.

Besides, they're _boring_!
