(I _like_ extra syllables!)

It's been _WAY_ too long since I've been to Psinging. Sheesh! I missed it, I did (and I have no idea how long it's been).

And I'm not going to have time to go again for a month and a half-ish - the next time I can go will be when Joe is here (and I suspect the first Friday he'll be here is unlikely, due to a very highly social time surrounding his arrival - so probably more like two months until I'm there again).

(which, incidentally, also means Joe'll be here in about a month and a half! *squeeee*)

And! I must remember to wear touchable clothing (including fuzzy slippers!) to Psinging more often. Much petting was to be had. *glee*

And there was a [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha! And I brought a [livejournal.com profile] aelisdeliria with me! And there was also an unexpected [livejournal.com profile] ratatosk! Yay! Many other nifty people, but those three were surrounding me and being cuddly. *purrs* Cuddly people gooood.

(apparently, yes, I'm back to being social again. Perhaps aided by caffiene and stamina pills, and by a _much_ less socially intense week this week. I sometimes forget exactly how high intensity J-with-no-LJ _is_)

Commenting on just the subject line ...

You may or may not already know this, but the UNIX 'spell' command is rule-based, not a straight lookup. It knows about gerunds and participles ... sort of. It'll pass "singinginging" as spelled correctly because it's "singinging" + "ing" (and "singinging" is "singing" + "ing", and "singing" is "singe" - "e" + "ing" -- oddly even though it knows "sing", it forms "singing" from "singe" instead, and I have no idea why).

Amusingly, it doesn't know the word "yes" directly; it determines it's correct by tacking an "s" onto "ye".

I am such an easily amused geek that I have remained amused by this for about twenty years since discovering it.

*extraordinarily pleased*

I did _not_ know this.

Knowing this also amuses me, as well as charming me immensely (both that you know, and that it is true). Thank you for sharing! :)

Also, there's a clear separation between rule-based spelling vs. memorization-based spelling with cog psych. Rule-based people apply rules incorrectly, as above (spellinging). Rote people transform unknown words into known words (spilling).
