The ancient Greeks didn't say, "zzzz" when they dozed. They said, "Omega, omega, omega, omega, omega." This is true of every culture that doesn't use the Roman alphabet---they don't use z. They use the last letter they actually have! In addition, they don't count sheep when going to sleep. They count local animals.
Also, werewaffles!
Help! I die! And then the gingerbread angel practically leaped into my stomach to convey the message of revelation between the gingerbread archangels and the hierarch
"You are a phoenix," notes the seventh habit of highly effective people. "No sex for you."
"It just seemed logical to me," Mr. Whitfield says, "that language controls the human capacity for thought. I knew it was an unpopular version of the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis. I knew it would ruin my life. But I thought that exploring its implications might be good for a lark. And then I was hooked."

Date: 2004-12-02 07:01 pm (UTC)I just don't tend to be very good at writing about it, since it's usually just _really_ short things in my head.
