I never got into hack or larn, I started with rogue and still have a preference. I may misrecall the specifics, but back in university when a centaur (C) appeared next to one of my fellow student's player, a fight ensued, with plummeting hit points on each strike. I commented, "mmm. A centaur. That's one tough character."
