Does anyone else sometimes toast marshmallows over the stove or a candle?

And do you have patience in your toasting, or do you take the tack of making them burnt to a crisp on the outside because you like watching the flaming marshmallow? (and hey, crispy on the outside and smooshy in the middle is fun, too)

We had a fireplace in the house we just sold. Frequent marshmallow toasting happened during the winter. :) No fireplace in the new house, but a wood stove is in our future. I once toasted over a gas stove when I had a craving but a very rare occurrence. I tried over a candle once as an experiment but is was too slow.

If I'm feeling patient I like to toast them to a nice even golden brown to the point it almost falls off the stick. That is the best. I'll often alternate with letting them burn and get crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. If I'm not in a patient mood I'll skip straight to burn mode.

The candy analogy sort of follows. I'll frequently suck on them for awhile then chew the remainder up. Cinnamon Altoids being a frequent target.
