Black tree silhouettes against a purple sky, cold wind through the warm air, a shockwave dissipating as thunder while the horizon flickers lavender. Rain falling everywhere, sparkling under the jagged slash of a white lightning bolt, glowing air and a crack that splits the night in half. Dark puddles, the susurration of water on leaves, and the earth transformed by electric flashes that scare the shadows away.
The screen glimmers with illuminated mist. Glow-in-the-dark stars climb up my window frame. Green points of light so close, gentle, childish, in stark contrast to the power of the storm. Cool luminescence reaches up as the amps arc down, and my metal-rimmed glasses shine in the split-second daylight.
