Job offer happened. Will be accepting, and will be employed again come July 21st. So if anyone feels a need to see me during the day on a weekday before I'm employed again, let me know!

Now, I just need to figure out how to pass my luck on to other unemployed people...

Quality Asurance, RedHat, Westford. I meant to write that, even!

I will! Although, unless you're using their enterprise
product, you may not see them.

Hah! Funny, I think that comment that appears to be from me is actually [livejournal.com profile] sandhawke's, from when I left my LJ cookies on his browser. He said he accidentally posted something as me and then deleted it, but maybe he didn't confirm the delete.

I've never administered RedHat so I have no good reason to ask for it to be improved :)

Well, that would certainly explain the similar feel to the question. :)

Yay! Congrats!

(We'll be looking for Redhat to get better now,
ya hear?)

Heh. You people are asking so much from li'l ol' me! ;)

(and, entirely randomly, I somehow managed to hit
a keystroke in lynx which popped up a porn site.
I have no idea how. It was strange)

That's what happens when you hit one of the keys with the nipples. (Usually F and J, but D and K on older Mac keyboards.)

Oh, cool! Congratulations! (I had no idea RedHat even had offices in Massachusetts. I guess they probably didn't the last time I was looking for work.)

Yep - I believe that office has only been there for a little
over a year. I'm fairly sure that it was created
when I was laid off from the job previous to the one I was just laid off from.

Congratulations on your success, as well as being able to enjoy some summer sun in the next few weeks before returning to the land of cubicles and working again.

And I know it's all the way on the other coast, but if you could fling some of that luck here...

Good to hear. Do the world a favor and convince them to abandon SysVile init, eh? :)

SysV init is the only thing I *miss* in Slackware from RedHat and SuSE.

Good lord man, I could design something more coherent in half an hour, and implement it in a day. Who needs a twisty maze of shell scripts and symbolic links when I could perform a simple topological sort of the set of daemons I want to run? Plus then I can start things which don't depend on each other in parallel, get some sort of warning when stopping a service on which other daemons depend, etc.
