(what an odd phrasing. 'all y'alls'? What, am I trying to be especially plural today?!)

Dunno, sounds like a familiar regionalism to me, though I'm having trouble pinning down the exact region I know it from. (I think I hear it without the final 's' more often than with it, but both feel familiar.)

I'm fairly sure it's not from a region I've actually lived in. Which is why the startlement. :)

This is what comes of knowing people from all over the place; I pick up the _strangest_ phrasings! ;)

All yall = lots of groups of plural of you.

The fact that it was not only about the oft suggested 'treat those you care about as if it is the last time you might see them', but that you demonstrate that it's _possible_. Because you do it. Demonstration of possibility, and explanation of why it works for you.

(that may be a poor paraphrasing of the idea in question - my paraphrasing skills are somewhat lacking today)
