australian_joe has a post which continually makes me grin like a loon (y'know, I've never actually seen a loon), here.

rosefox did much that was nifty during Blogathon last Saturday, made up almost entirely of audio posts, including songs, poems, and stories. And, if you go donate, you can listen to it all, too! She mentions it here.

rosefox also pointed us all to a set of comments in code which were being removed due to 'dirty words'. Having randomly read source code throughout my time as QA, I'm highly amused.

Finally, I must share some geeky cuteness. Also - I _frequently_ get confused between things I posted/emailed and things I say on the phone. Probably due to lack of contextual non-verbal input.

Oh! I lied. Not finally. This might be finally. starandrea posted something which included

"I try to remember that I actually know people who are Republicans and they're perfectly nice. (Even if they would forbid me to marry, take my children, and damn me to hell on holy ground. That's fine. It's all good.)"

in it. I'm _so_ amused.

I believe that you not only have to see a loon, but "hear its plaintive wail" to appreciate it. this page (http://www.ns.ec.gc.ca/wildlife/loons/images.html) has some loon calls. :)

Oh, I've _heard_ loons. I've just not seen them. :)

I grew up sufficiently far north (and with lots of water) to have heard them. Although I didn't realize that all of those sounds were loons, so the link is helpful! Recognized the middle two sounds, and the latter of the two I knew was a loon.
