There are many really strange childhood songs in my head. Seriously.

"Great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts, mutilated monkey meat, chopped up parakeet, french fried eyeballs floating in a bowl of blood, and I forgot my spoon. But I remembered my straaaaw!"

"I don't care if I go crazy, one two three four five six switch! Crazy go I if care don't I, six five four three two one switch!"

"My brother Tony was very bony, because he would never eat his meals. And so we gave him medicinal compound, and now we roll him 'round on wheels!" - slight variation for memory and singing changes, of course. But I _have_ a younger brother Tony (actually Anthony, and he no longer answers to 'Tony'), and he _was_ really bony. I didn't actually know it existed anywhere other than in my family member's heads, so now I'm highly amused!

There are probably more, but nothing has triggered them recently. And y'all _don't_ want to know how many random christian/catholic folk songs there are in my head.

oooh local variant!

"great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts, mutiliated monkey meat, little dirty birdy feet, great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts, and I forgot my spoo-oo-oon!"

Did you ever sing "once there were three fishermen"?

"Amster-amster-DAM DAM DAM!"

local variant? Perhaps, perhaps not - I grew up partly in Pennsylvania, and my parents are from Wisconson, so it's difficult to know where things came from. :)

Did you ever sing "once there were three fishermen"?

I don't _think_ so?

I remember the first one including "concentrated chicken feet" and a few others that don't come to mind right now.

A few others were John Jacob Jingleheimerschmidt and Kumbaya. I'm missing access to many of them because I've still got Sarah on the brain...

*concentrated*? Huh. 'new! Condenced chicken feet!'

And yes, I do vaguely remember the first, and certainly the second!

I also have bunches of songs in my head from learning to play the piano and violin, I'm sure.

I certainly hope they don't put that right next to the condenced chicken noodle soup. Picking up the wrong one could make for a very surprising lunch. *grin*

Hey! I think I remember Square One, but I can't find anything in my head attached to it!

Bad evil neverending song!

Also... Rubber Ducky (http://www.guntheranderson.com/v/data/rubberdu.htm)! RUBBER DUCKY! You have _no_ idea how many pairs of words will get sung in that initial phrasing and therefore stick that song in other people's heads. :)

And! Not childhood, but I do the same thing with the dreidel song. I say words three times _often_, and this sometimes gets the dreidel song in response. Which is amusing because I'm not and have never been Jewish!

I'm reasonably sure there's a Mathman video on one of those sites. How much time do you want to spend looking? Or I could do another Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=mathman+video) and come up with some all fast like.

Me? *innocent look* You started it anyhow. :P

Doh! I had a few quiescent brain cells that still recall the horror of that song. You woke them up, Darn You!

How about:

"Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peanut just now..."
"On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese..."
"The littlest worm, I ever saw, was stuck inside, my soda straw..."
