I could send you a Perl script who's only enhancements include the ability to leave out your own comments and the ability to keep or discard screened or deleted comments as you want.
That I've seen, all the comment things out there just count all the comments...

Meh. Thanks anyhow, but those two features aren't compelling enough to bother... If you could get the time thing, now that would be interesting.

It actually wouldn't be difficult at all. But it would require the downloading of the comment bodies. That would be a lot more data storage as well as being chunked at 1000 elements instead of 10k elements like the comment metadata is.

Substitute "more" for "difficult" then. ;P

Yeah... data storage could definitely be a problem. How about just getting the comment headers rather than the bodies? I know LJ itself only displays the headers when threading.
