Jul. 24th, 2009 02:43 pmSome flowering plants at various stages of flowering remind me of fireworks. Like maybe flowers could mimic fireworks, if fast-forwarded.
Raindrops make everything shiny, even if it's not sunny enough to truly sparkle. It's pretty, and it makes me wonder how many of those drops will get absorbed by a plant, or the dirt, how many will be drunk by an insect or a bird, and how many will be absorbed by the air. They are especially fascinating on spiderwebs, although I did not see any on my walk today.
There is a 'Private Property No Tresspassing" sign next to the path I walk on, and the trees appear to disapprove of the sign. They are largely blocking, and certainly surrounding it. I, too, disapprove, mind you. It's not as if they are doing anything with the property in question. There are many wildflowers, though, which are pretty.
There is one of those water holding places in the complex that my office is in, and it's always difficult for me to see it have water in it because it rained recently (or, in Spring, because the snow melted), but know that there are not going to be any water creatures living in it to watch. If you're going to build on swampland, why not leave a pond or two? Or, heck, recreate one? Yes, there will be mosquitoes, so just don't put places intended for people to be at near them. Those who want to go to the pond anyway (like me!) will appreciate it. And so will the creatures.
Perhaps they would get too much salt in there in the winter to survive. So perhaps it makes sense to not try to make a pond. But it's still sad.
So much color, from the wildflowers. Very pretty, although I'm glad that I don't appear to have wildflower-based allergies!
And now, after that walk break, back to work.
