Not just gendered pronouns!

Apparently all of the gender-specific terms have decided to go on strike.

I'm beginning to find myself doing double-takes at words like 'girl', as I noticed while listening to Indigo Girls' _Don't Give That Girl A Gun_ on the way into work. I really want to know why gendered terms are refusing to believe in their existence anymore.

And I really need to find some useful gender-neutral words before I spend all my time double-checking everything I saw after I say it! Entirely too many people get offended if one uses the wrong gendered terms.
