Want...

A shirt that says "I only _look_ normal".

And...

to finally get around to figuring out how to dye my hair purple. It's not like my co-workers would care!

The shirt sounds like something you could find at Northern Sun (http://northernsun.com/)

Do you want it to be temporary or as permanent as veggie dye gets?

For temp, comb the dye into your very slightly damp hair and let it dry (you can help it along with a hair dryer), then rinse till the water runs very light purple (It's not going to run clear for weeks).

***CAUTION***, the dye stains everything it touches, especially skin. There are things you can buy to remove the stain (I always forget, 'cause they're at the beauty supply store and I never remember to go there, so I go with the scrub for way too long method), but a layer of petroleum jelly will stop it from sticking. (It also stains as it's rinsed out, but I haven't found a solution for that. Next time I'm going to get a cheap shower curtain and wrap it around myself as I let the water rinse the dye out. It's either that or go to the hair dresser's...which is probably a bit expensive for a rinse.:)

For more permanence, get a box of cheapo bleach (anything lighter than your own hair that isn't ash blonde, 'cause that'll dye your hair and you're just trying to take color out right now.) I use palest blonde in whatever's on sale. Leave it in as long as you can and then condition the hell out of your hair. Then dye it as above.

Oh, and don't believe the bottle if it says to leave the dye on for fifteen minutes. Even if you bleach first, that's simply not enough time for the dye to soak in.

Btw, the bleeding happens at night too, so you might want to get a pillowcase just for this.

I'm probably making this sound horrible, but I really love dying my hair weird colors, though I haven't in ages (I've got dye in the cupboard though...I just have to find the time to bleach). It's a hassle to get it there, but it's really fun when you do, especially people's reactions. (Once a woman said "Did you *mean* to do that?!" I thought about it for a moment and replied "I don't think you can do this by mistake." *Grin*)

Good luck.

Permanent, probably, but temporary while I figure out the right coloring and such. What dye are you referring to, in this comment?

I recommend www.zazzle.com, wherein you can MAKE a t-shirt saying anything you want and order it in small quantities!

I love having minions. I think the little eyeballs are pretty funny too.

Minions can be tasty, and _not_ in an actually consumption kind of way.

(although, I do comment on consuming people's brains, so you never know!)

[livejournal.com profile] luna_littleone' hallmark was the vibrant purple hair that she wore before having to go natural when she relocated to NYC for work.

If you want to have it done well, I would contact her for the skinny on how she had hers done.

Purple wig? Maybe purple bits of hair I could attach to my head! Hmm...

But where would I find them?
