wispfox: (happy)

Natural break in my work, and a need to leave in a few minutes means that I actually have time to write a post! Shock!

Busy with adjusting to working, albeit mostly on thesis prep work. Mostly done with the lab website, which is nice.

I really do adore my adviser, as I suspected that I would!

Hadn't been sleeping well, for unclear reasons, but having AC last night helped _a lot_. (but no alots were harmed in the making of that sentence)

[livejournal.com profile] metahacker's relatives were up last weekend. Busy weekend, although I did bow out of one of the bits that was going to be hard on me (spending time walking around a city not so much fun for me unless I'm _really_ high energy). Got to spend quiet time with fishies and garden of fabulousness instead. Had no idea how much I'd needed that!

[livejournal.com profile] jasra and I had our normal date time, but the third floor where my computer is was far too hot, so we chatted instead. Did you know that there appear to be no outtakes from World of Warcraft?! Sadness. Also, I am seriously considering an ipad for reasons of notetaking and other useful things while in school, thus not needing to upgrade my laptop. Also, then I can use my iphone apps again. Did I mention that I got an andriod phone for reasons of irritation with the iphone's calendar app default settings stupidities? (largely the fact that I can't tell it to default to having an alarm on my appointments when I create new ones)

The postdoc at the lab I'm in is a Debian user. This is especially amusing because I worked at Red Hat for so long. I'm not really a fangirl, though, of much of anything. After explaining this, we have had brief conversations about it randomly. Also, he's very very likely to be setting up the wii remote version of a touchscreen here at the lab (do a google search for "ted talks wii remote"; I'd link, but it crashes my work machine), which makes me Very Happy. Talk about ways to make it easier to have older adults (seniors) as participants, at least those ones who don't have previous computer experience! *pleased*

Registering for classes in less than a week. Buh.

Also, will be working in the lab a fair bit, since I do need to get the participants for my thesis - preferably in the fall, so that it's easier for the off-campus ones to get here - in time to be able to _write_ it next summer (probably. Perhaps late spring, but rather doubtful).

So much prep work for thesis! Lots of slides weren't scanned, so I got to (get to continue!) hunt them down and scan them in.

So yeah. Random and not well proofed update for you all! Written in about 7 minutes. And now I must be off to pick up [livejournal.com profile] galaneia!

Oh! Adorable card from [livejournal.com profile] metahacker to both of us because it's been nearly 6 months in this house!
