Interesting little thing. As a near-fossil of 49, I go back to Sputnik era stuff. But it gets even more interesting if I put in my mother's birthday.

Using that date, it says that she was:

27 years old when the Soviet satellite Sputnik 1 was launched
23 years old at the end of the Korean War
15 years old when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima
11 years old at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
5 years old in the year radar was invented

Going even further afield, if I put in my grandmother's birthday, it tells me that she was:

42 years old in the year radar was invented
37 years old when the American stock market crashed
34 years old in the year of the first talking motion picture
23 years old at the time of the sinking of the Lusitania
22 years old when the First World War began
20 years old at the time of the maiden voyage of the Titanic

The most interesting item on that list is the second one from the bottom. My grandmother had a ticket for that maiden voyage, but cashed it in for passage on a later voyage when her mother got sick.
