Hee!

From [livejournal.com profile] starandrea's Notice page today:

"I told my sister that, in my ideal world, everyone would be smarter and friendlier than I am.
Then, no matter where I went or what I did, I would be welcome and educated."

I wanna live in that world, _too_! (wait. I'm not entirely convinced I _don't_...)

And look at the pretty! (sparkly...)

(OK, I'm disturbingly cheerful today, especially for someone whose been up since 6:30am. Yay for no longer being sick and exhausted!)

Imbalance.  I like my world, a mixture of people to learn from and people to teach.

The brilliant thing that happens is that if you seek out people who are smarter than you, whatever your relative *knowledge*, a positive feedback loop gets set up where you are both teaching and learning from each other.

In which case, the language fails, specifically with the usage of the phrase "smarter than".  If someone is all-around smarter than me, they've nothing to learn from me, or nine times out of ten they'll think so.  If someone has greater $value-strength than me, that's different, and more clear.

($value can be things like "geek", "philosophy", "athletics", whatever.)

I would be lost in a world where I couldn't teach people. In my ideal world, we would all be teaching each other what we most loved; infusing others with that love while they would be infusing us with what they loved.

*smiles* Honestly, I think that was at least part of the idea behind it. Because... there is no one who knows everything.

Dunno. Words aren't working very well today...

I can certainly see the two strongly intersecting. I've been trying to come up with an elegant way to say that I think that's what you meant but I couldn't so I'm just saying it in a rambling, somewhat incoherent way...
