Colds are strange
Feb. 27th, 2004 10:06 amIt's really confusing to not know if I'm hungry because all my normal hunger signals are being overridden by my cold.
Normally, if I'm hungry, I start to get a hunger headache. But I already _have_ a headache, from this cold. As well, I'll start having small amounts of digestive liquids in my throat. But my throat is sore, so I can't tell.
My stomach grumbling is the _last_ signal I get, and usually because I'm starving, and not just hungry. So I've decided to just eat breakfast because I should, and not because I know that I'm hungry. Really odd...
It's also really annoying to feel mostly fine (except for a headache) because of all my cold-fighting pills, and then _forget to take more_ because I feel mostly fine. Made for a difficult time waking up this morning.
Stupid colds.
No share tonight for me - don't want to get everyone else sick, and sleep is needed. Ought to be able to do my many plans for tomorrow, though!

Date: 2004-02-27 03:16 pm (UTC)Um, when otherwise very sick, though, also, it's easy to ignore more subtle sensations. Yes, that's it.

Date: 2004-02-27 04:10 pm (UTC)been told that the best quick cure for a cold is two shots of blackberry brandy, then all the sleep you can sleep under every blanket in the house, then lots of orange juice and chicken soup.
haven't been able to test this theory, but i felt silly commenting with nothing to say except "sympathies"...^.^ i hope you feel better soon.

Date: 2004-02-27 06:27 pm (UTC)That's probably a _very_ bad idea for me. When I'm sick, I have a really bad habit of not eating or drinking enough, or well enough, so I get slightly dehydrated, which only makes me feel worse.
The other parts sound decent, though - as long as I remember to do the whole eating and drinking parts as _well_ as sleeping. :)

Date: 2004-02-27 06:23 pm (UTC)Oh, I'm sure I will. Colds are annoying, mostly.
And really, I'd *better* feel better before next weekend, or I'm going to be pissed off.

Re: hunger signals
Date: 2004-02-27 08:06 pm (UTC)This is one of my problems with Dexadrine. I have very few hunger signals. Very annoying to someone who used to know just amount of food to eat.
