wispfox: (curled kitty)

I start the trip home in ~8 hours. I will probably go to bed soon, because I'm _sleepy_.

I _like_ San Francisco, even if the weather _does_ fuck with my head. And it appears to mostly not have had a 'aaaah! Scary big city!' reaction in my head. Which is good.

I might just be willing to live here - rather than somewhere outside the city - when I finally get to the point of changing coasts. Of course, expense-wise, outside the city might be a better option. We shall see. It's not like it's happening even remotely any time soon, since I haven't even paid off all my loans yet, and there's still the whole saving up so I can wander around the US for a year and then still have money for school and somewhere to live when I am done with that. (and I really need to get back to investigating appropriate volunteer opportunities so that I have the ability to get the necessary psychology/therapy-related recommendation when I apply!)

I like having developed a sense for various people who were mostly (in some cases, entirely) mythical in my head (the state of semi-real includes all of the people who live at Dreamland whose LJs I read). I also like having developed a sense for some people who - for all intents and purposes - did not exist at all in my head.

The problem with traveling is that I meet nifty people who then live too damn far away. But, at the same time, the meeting of nifty people is the best _part_ of traveling. (although the 'huh! That's just neat/strange/fucked up' aspects are good, too. I oddly kinda enjoy having to force my brain into new and interesting confugurations)

I can't figure out why it did not weird me out to see California license plates, yet seeing Nevada ones hurt my head.

I spent far less than I easily could have, but more than I'd hoped. I have no idea what I was thinking with that hope, though, since I was on vacation, and in (effectively) an entirely new city.

There are very strange billboards here. And I still can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that there were tech-related ads in the bathrooms in San Jose.

I wonder how well Ash coped with my being gone for a month. Poor kitty. He's gonna have to deal, though, 'cause I'll be gone for longer than that in ~1 year when I go to Australia!

My brain just refused to work anymore. I apparently am done with this post. I shall read a few more random bits of LJ, and then go to bed.

I will post when I am home, so y'all don't think I fell out of the plane or something (wouldn't _that_ be a talent!). I will probably not be reading email until I've gotten more sleep, because the idea of reading email has been an exhausting one for the past couple of days.
