Also? I think that lj email addresses are broken; neither [livejournal.com profile] jasra nor I ever received our test emails to ourselves.

Were you sending from gmail? A while back, when I attempted to send an email from my gmail account to jasra (at) livejournal.com, I got nothing but bounces. Sending to her real address was not a problem.
