Dammit, I _really_ need to remember to take anti-sick pills when I go into the office and it seems like half the people there are sick. Even if they think they are no longer contagious. Work, associative memory, _WORK_!

Today, I can _feel_ the cold invading my brain. Shaky, probably because I'm utterly exhausted (and I _felt_ that coming on! Entirely unrelated to going to bed late, even!). Headache also coming on, but could also be related to the exhausted. And oh, the snifflies are just hiding _right out of sight_. Brain fog is also here, again probably related to exhaustion.

How come most of the symptoms I have from colds feel exhaustion-related? Is that usual? Or is it just that I tend to always be at the point of being overtired, so it's easy to tip me over into being overtired, and being overtired really fucks me up?

Oh, look! Now my muscles are even more irritable than they already were (wait, I thought that was a flu symptom, and not a cold one?)! It is distinctly odd to be able to track my symptom progression while it's happening...

I want a nap. And to have my anti-sick pills be here, not just at home. But mostly, a nap. Bah.

Colds always make me exhausted first, and everything else else comes after. Which means that if I go and do something physically exhausting, I can never tell afterwards if I'm sick or just completely wiped out.

I always feel very tired when I get colds -- it's one of the ways I can usefully distinguish them from allergies, in fact!

:(

The cold that seems to be going around right now contains mostly
a sore throat and tiredness, with minimal congestion. I guess
are the symptoms it seems to be having for me, now.

Anti-sick pills? :) (The zinc-based things do seem to help
a little bit for colds.)

Some combination of:

Echinacea (often with Goldenseal, which also helps)
Vitamin C
B complex
Zinc
Zicam

Other things, but they are at home and I can't remember the names. If I remember/have energy, I'll list them when I'm home.

Hmm. Yeah, I have this problem if I've just not been sleeping well, in terms of distinguishing the two.

Huh! Thankfully, I don't have allergies, although I _do_ seem to get sinus infections for no apparent reason.

Go home and take a nap! If you aren't getting useful work done, why be at work? If you feel guilty about sneaking out early, you can wfh later.

I get sinus infections from minor congestion which doesn't stuff up my nose, which I seem to get from allergies.

My mom reports that there is now an easy-peasy blood test for allergies that might be worth investigating in a "it would be easy to do and convenient if it explained things" kind of way...

How is it easier?

The alternative is a scratch test, which involves making scratches along your arms or back and putting a different common allergen in each to see which ones turn red, itch, and swell. So unless you're scared of needles, I think a blood draw is probably less unpleasant :)

Olive Leaf and L-lysine are what I forgot.

There are others, when stuff gets into my lungs, but those are the ones I take for all getting sick problems.
