I'm being all organized and attempting to keep track of my food preferences somewhere useful for pointing people to it. I will add to it as I remember things (and/or people remind me), and am putting it into my "me FAQ" memories category.

Need:
-Not highly hot-spicy (picante). (I have no pallet for it, for the most part, because eating it tends to result in more or less instant acid reflux)
-Not highly fatty. (again with the more or less instant acid reflux)
-Not highly salty. (this is a taste thing, but a very very strong taste preference)

Prefer (likes):
-Variety is good so I don't get bored with my food (this is easily solved by having bread available in addition to the main meal). This means I tend to strongly approve of buffet places (but not chinese if americanized chinese food is the only option. This comes from having waitressed at a chinese place with an americanized buffet for ~3 years).
-Mint! Lemon! Lime! (these are some of the few food things which I actually love - most of the time, food is so I stop being hungry and have energy and can think)
-Sandwiches please me most of the time. (I can, eventually, get tired of them)
-Fruits, vegetables, and nuts please me.
-I could eat toasted bagles and cream cheese for a very long time, and for multiple meals (for those who know how quickly I get bored with food, this is amazing. And I have no idea why it's true). I also tend to have difficulty getting tired of yogurt (especially fruit on the bottom types).
-Cheese is good, although I appear to be anti soft/squishy-but-not-melted cheeses (probably texture again).
-Italian is often good, although I get tired of red sauce after a bit. I also tend to get tired of cream sauces, but that's likely to be a fat content thing. (no, I have no idea how I can like Italian food and yet get tired of it fairly quickly)
-French food appears to please me. Not a whole lot of experience with this, though.
-Thai tends to please me, as long as I can get it not picante and have not had it recently.
-Pasta in general is usually good, although I might get tired of sauce, and it's sad if it's over cooked.
-Chicken is usually good.
-Seafood can be good if fresh (but not raw. Yet again the texture thing attacks!).
-Food that's crunchy, or has crunchy bits, tends to make me happy.
-Raw vegetables, or barely cooked ones, tend to please me. Especially - for the raw ones - if there is something to dip them in. Don't like zuccini and similar vegies, though.
-I _love_ nan (Indian bread), and am perfectly happy to have it as a meal. (even though the rest of Indian food appears to fall in the next category).
-Garlic is good.

Prefer (dislikes):
-No pig meat.
-I like, but get tired very quickly of Indian (and, apparently Etheopian) food. I appear to interpret the sauce in Indian and Etheopian as being insufficiently varied; probably texture-related, since I can't imagine that they are actually _that_ similar throughout the entirety of both cuisines.
-Not chinese (unless it's _excellent_ quality, and preferably not terribly americanized).
-Not mexican, because if you take the picante out of mexican, it's _very_ boring, and not even an particularly interesting texture.
-Food that's squishy makes me sad. (this usually refers to overcooked vegetables) I do, however, like things like mashed potatoes, especially if it includes bits of skin. Do _not_ tend to like whipped potato, though.

Allergies, of the annoying variety (I have no significant food allergies):
-Pineapple (juice - dried is fine)
-Kiwi (see above)
-Excessive amounts of soy makes my digestion unhappy.
-Ditto the above - but in different ways - for excessive amounts of milk (but milk products appear to require an utterly stupid amount to have the same effect). And I think milk in cooking is fine.
