Still waiting for the rest of my photos to upload from Albuquerque!

But, today's travels largely involved a visit to Sky City, including a tour, and walking back down from the pueblo using their crazy steep path down to the road. There were steps! And handholds, in some places. Pretty cool, but did mean that my legs hurt and that I was not up to El Malpais today. So, tomorrow I do that and probably the mining museum and whatever else there is in town.

Lovely views! I think the pictures from Sky City are almost done uploading to flickr, too. Yep!

Also need to go to the post office and send some stuff home, and try to find more of my long-sleeved, flowy, lightweight cotton shirts since I only have two with me, and I seem to largely want to wear those on top for reasons of coolness and sunlight protection.

I meant to post this last night, but my phone did not cooperate.

Very glad that I sleep with earplugs, and have working sleep meds. I doubt I'd be sleeping, tired every night though I am, without them!

I keep seeing a bright yellow sign with the word 'corn' in large letters. It is not, to my disapponitment, an ad for a farmstand, but a political thing.

Someone nearby is listening to countrified James Taylor. I keep getting tripped up by the differences between what I know and what I hear!

Ok, now for sleep and my strangely vivid dreams.

It is generally true that my default setting is to like people. I suspect it is that genuine liking and interest that make a trip like this possible. I _care_, and so people are generally good to me, and care about me.

I would probably not be happy on this trip if I disliked people, but at the same time I have no doubt that a very different type of road trip could be done by someone who did not generally like people.

I am glad that the sun has meant there is not even a hint of a problem due to lack of lightbox, since it was not really feasible for a roadtrip to bring it.

I sometimes think that my major drive is to share the beauty & joy that I see or experience. It would certainly explain my need to travel and do new and interesting things. It would also explain my periodic startlement at not having anyone to share fleeting things with. Camera & livejournal is certainly a good approximation, which is much of why I am driven to write every night, and upload pictures when I can. I want to share all this with you, even if only through a rough approximation thereof.

The idea of my life goal being at least in part to share beauty warms me.
