*chuckles*

Today is, apparently, my 'linking to [livejournal.com profile] theferrett's posts' day.

Now, he's talking about off & online friendships, friends-locking reasons, and physical fetishes.

To each of those, I say:

a) I do need to meet a person to cement a friendship, but I can have a pretty good feeling before meeting someone that a friendship is likely. [livejournal.com profile] wolfieboy is in this category, and (before I met her and was proven correct) [livejournal.com profile] shadesong was in there. I also find the fact that the poll he linked to about on/offline friendships apparently has long distance and real life as _separate_ categories very strange. I have long distance relationships of various types which are certainly real life ones. (also, I really want 'offline' instead of 'real life', dammit!)

b) I friends lock for multiple reasons. I don't want J Random Stranger knowing everything in my head, especially not since I do use my own pictures and am therefore recognizable by random people. Most of what I post, I try to post publicly. As well, I lock and filter some stuff because not everyone wants to know my thoughts on certain subjects. Finally, I may lock things so as to reduce drama problems. Like, say, during the desintegration of my ability to handle living with my former roommate.

c) Physical fetishes amuse me (and yes, I _do_ have them! I also have some non-physical ones, which I will include because I feel like it). Without further ado:

Generally:
-long hair. Seriously. I _notice_ long hair, to a somewhat disturbing degree. It no longer causes me to make stupid dating choices, though.
-Demonstration of musical ability (not sure if this is a physical one or not - it _does_ require a demonstration...). I've stopped to talk to complete strangers for no other reason than that they were playing some musical instrument, and _not_ to obtain money.
-Intensity (not physical, exactly, but it can be demonstrated without actually knowing a person). This one is a _very_ strong pull for me. Dangerously so. But I'm aware of it, and far more cautious about it than I used to be.

I don't think I know enough dancers to be sure if this is fetish-level, but dancers catch my attention, too. (I _have_ recently mentioned a fascination with music and dance, right? :)
I also have an anti-fetish - _not_ with the scary body builder types, of either gender!

In guys (yes, I have more of a type with guys than with women. I find more women attractive, physically. I seem to date more guys, though. Go figure):
-dark hair/eyes
-large, mobile, expressive hands

In women:
-harpists (I have no idea why. Play a harp near me, and I _will_ stare. I don't think I know any male harpists - it might be a more general fetish)
-cat-like characteristics

Hi There!

Wow. You are the second girl in as many weeks to post a description of your ideal guy that is basically the OPPOSITE of me. Huh.

Hi There!

Ah. Okay. I've been seeing a recent "attractive women that do NOT want me" theme amonst my lj friends... :(

What you wrote about physical types and attractions made me think.
In men I am drawn to long hair and androgynous features, though not always. Sometimes I am drawn to men who are the same size as me, not huge. A rare man in a kilt makes me take notice but you don't find that too often. Who knows why. I like artists, writers, actors, dancers, musicians or anyone creative; though I end up with brainy computer programmers. I notice posture and bad posture is a turn-off in men. In both genders I notice coloring and it is the first thing I appreciate beyond facial expression.

In women, I like flowy hair, roundness and softness with a physical type similar to mine though slightly rounder. Very feminine. I am drawn to women who look like me lately and realize that is incredibly narcissistic. Velvets, embroidery, with earthy clothing or something gypsy-esque appeals to me females.

No - things I tend to be attracted to != I an not ever attracted to anything else. Especially if one is actually talking about physical characteristics. If one is talking about some of the non-physical ones, it's a bit more important.

Interestingly, bad posture makes me want to _fix_ their posture. ;)

Velvets, and other touchable fabrics draws me in _both_ genders.

I know a male harpist -- he's my duo partner, in fact, and has turned many a head ;)

On the physical fetish thing: I totally fail to have a turns-my-head-every-time type in men or women!
